Second Science and Technology Project (STP II) – Open scientific infrastructural platforms for innovative applications in the economy and society (O-ZIP)

Open scientific infrastructural platforms for innovative applications in the economy and society (O-ZIP) is a major capital structural project (72 million EUR) of Ruđer Bošković Institute which will be financed from European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The primary objective of O-ZIP is to improve parts of the RBI with the greatest commercial potential and proven excellence in providing European and applied projects. The focus of the project will be in synergy with the strategy of ‘smart specialization’, i.e. the so-called ‘Key Enabling Technolgies’ (KET) in which the RBI is either the best or among the very few best in the region, namely: biotechnology (pharmaceutical and food industry), advanced materials and manufacturing technologies (detectors and sensors, smart materials, radiation technologies), ICT: eScience, photonics (optoelectronics), health (diagnostic and therapeutic methods).

Through the World Bank financed project (STPII), WYG has provided following services to the Client:

  • establishing the technical, economic, environmental, and social feasibility of the project;
  • comprehensive demand analysis (including interviews, surveys, collecting Letters of Intent/Support);
  • estimating implementation costs;
  • comprehensive option analysis;
  • detailed list of equipment with cost estimate; financial and CBA; risk assessment with mitigation plan;
  • Environmental Management Plan;
  • Technical Documentation Review;
  • implementation and procurement schedule for the project

WYG has worked closely with the Ministry and the WB, client, beneficiary, JASPERS, and other key stakeholders.

The project was submitted to calls for proposals within the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for financing in the 2014–2020 programming period.
