Preparation of study documentation for flood protection on the Zagrebačko prisavlje river basin

• Reduce the likelihood of floods and their possible harmful consequences.
• Reduce possible harmful consequence primarily in sub-basins and settlements with a high risk of flooding
• Reduce possible adverse effects on sub-basins and settlements for all flood events with a probability of occurrence greater than 1/100
• Enable cost-effectiveness of optimal measures that should ensure maximization of the benefit-cost ratio
• Prevent the increase of flood risk with new measures, prevent the impact of measures on natural processes and prevent the transfer of flood problems from one area to another.

For Zagreb Prisavlje river basin the widest range of possible measures were considered. The first step was formulation of alternatives, identification of the entire set of potential measures for risk management of floods – structural and non-structural measures.

Optimal variant for flood risks management solution includes: hydrological-hydraulic flood forecasting system; equipping several retentions for remote control; rehabilitation and reconstruction of several retentions; construction of flood relief channel; rehabilitation, reconstruction and construction of embankments, walls.

Total value of the proposed investment was 161,881,172 kn (21,584,156 €).
