The purpose of the analysis is to explore potential models for the University Hospital Centre Osijek – KBC Osijek construction at the new location. The study assessed the current and projected healthcare needs of the Slavonia and Baranja regions over the next 30 years. Based on these findings, an architectural and construction concept and a conceptual solution were developed.
The analysis results indicated that the optimal hospital capacity includes 955 beds in the inpatient unit, 247 places in the day hospital, and 38 operating theatres. Additionally, plans include other essential facilities such as healthcare support rooms, a technical section, a professional laundry, a kitchen, visitor areas, and spaces for research, development, and education. The total gross area of the building will be 149,100 m².
Adjacent to the hospital, a waste incinerator and a parking structure are also planned. A detailed list of necessary medical equipment for each functional area was compiled. Furthermore, the consultant proposed an optimal energy concept, guidelines for sustainable green construction, a financial and economic analysis, a risk analysis, and a project implementation plan.
The total investment cost of the project is estimated to be slightly over €700 million.
