The project “Technical Assistance for the Project ‘Social Housing for Internally Displaced People in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’” demonstrates comprehensive expertise in preparing large-scale, socially oriented infrastructure investments financed by international financial institutions.
The assignment supports the development of approximately 1,200 social housing units for internally displaced persons, returnees, and other vulnerable groups in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project is designed around a non-profit housing model and includes both construction of new units and refurbishment of existing buildings, ensuring integration with local infrastructure, public services, and urban environments.
WYG’s role under this technical assistance contract is to provide end-to-end project preparation support, covering regulatory, technical, financial, and institutional dimensions. This includes a detailed assessment of the legal and policy framework and alignment with EIB/EU requirements, as well as appraisal of proposed housing sites through field surveys, infrastructure mapping, and verification of land ownership and local capacities. The team also conducts environmental, social, and climate risk assessments, ensuring compliance with applicable safeguards and sustainability standards.
In parallel, the project includes institutional capacity assessment and strengthening, focusing on the implementing structures (PIU), governance arrangements, and operational readiness. Financial feasibility analysis, risk assessment, and development of operation and maintenance models further ensure long-term sustainability.
